My Go to ‘Diet’ Staples & Advice – Tips and Tricks!

  1. Good Fats! I like to have fats like avocado, whole eggs, almonds, olive oil, flax oil, walnuts and all natural almond butter.
  2. Avoid Late Night Snacking – Your metabolism slows down when you sleep so you shift from fat burning to fat storage.
  3. Train Your Brain – Are you bored? Or are you really hungry?
  4. Spice Up Your Food – Adding different spices and seasonings to your meals can ass extreme amounts of flavor, therefor satisfying your taste buds!
  5. Protein – Incorporating proteins in most of your meals encourages fat loss and preserves muscle mass while keeping you full longer! I get my protein from lean white fish, all natural chicken, lean ground turkey, salmon, egg whites and whole eggs.
  6. Portion Control – In one half cup of whole almonds there are 413 calories and 36 Grams of fat. A normal serving size is usually around a handful. (23 almonds or so) and that is only 164 calories and 14 Grams of fat.
  7. Carbs – Eat your carbs! I incorporate lots of carbohydrates into my diet depending on the times I train and what I am training. A few different carbs I like to eat are oatmeal, Kodiak cakes, white rice, quinoa, brown rice, rice cakes, cheerios, red potato, sweet potato & essential flax seed bread.
  8. Plenty of Veggies – Vegetables are packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals so making sure you get in enough servings of veggies each day is essential!
  9. Out of Sight Out of Mind – If your going to be tempted with certain ‘bad’ foods around your house I would suggest you don’t even have them in your house! Its better not to have the ‘bad stuff’ around if you feel tempted.
  10. Keep a Meal Journal – Having a notebook or journal to track your progress is something I love to do! When writing things down I feel it works best to keep your mind on track! It holds you accountable to what you’re doing and your day. Also, writing how you are feeling during the day and the times of the day you get tired how you feel after this meal or that meal will help tremendously when tracking your progress!
